Papa Hāpuʻu

About

Papa Hāpuʻu translates to papa-class and hāpuʻu -a budding child. Hāpuʻu also refers to a variety of kalo and a type of fern. Both plants are prominent symbols of a developing keiki. This course focuses on the fundamentals of storytelling. Through Heluhelu Puke (Bi-lingual read-aloud with digitized books), Mele and Oli (song and chant)related to the book content, discussion prompts, and worksheets, students will become storytellers. Papa Hāpuʻu is a collection of ready-to-go resources, lessons, and activities for beginning learners! Included with Papa Hāpuʻu is a collection of lessons based on bi-lingual read-aloud videos with Kumu Maile. Also included are guiding questions for circle time and haʻawina (worksheets) to make teaching and learning fun and easy for everyone! The classes are designed to introduce literacy concepts such as the main idea, the characters, the sequence of the story, the setting, and more! Includes: 15 bilingual books 30 lessons (ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi version and English version for each) Discussion questions for circle time Worksheets for each Papa Hāpuʻu lesson
