Alakaʻi Academy

The Alakaʻi Academy is a three-day workshop on the island of Molokaʻi in which participants will be immersed in hands-on, culture-based practices to strengthen HĀ as school leaders. Through these aloha ʻāina experiences, participants will strengthen pilina to self, fellow administrators and to ʻāina, deepen their understanding of the reciprocal relationship between ʻāina and kanaka, reflect upon their own values and philosophy as leaders and learn how to adopt a culturally responsive and ʻāina-based lens to develop a pono leadership framework for their schools. Experiential, explorative, and analytical exercises will empower participants to implement these values and framework as the foundation to strengthen aloha ʻāina and HĀ experiences for their students, staff, and broader school community. This workshop aims to transform how leaders see themselves, their communities, and their kuleana.
