Papa Kahua

Papa Kahua is a three-hour crash course in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi with Kumu Maile that sets a foundation for beginning speakers with little to no experience. It is also highly recommended as a refresher for speakers who havenʻt practiced for a long time. In this engaging class, haumāna will learn fundamentals such as protocol, the alphabet, pronunciation, and how to ask and answer questions that are used in our everyday lives. There are no pre-requisite classes required to attend Papa Kahua.

Kamaʻilio Café
Kamaʻilio means to converse and that’s exactly what we will do. Reinforce your learning and get the practice you need speaking with other learners. Join from anywhere in the world! Classes are held via zoom, and participants will receive access to class recordings for review.

Papa Makua LIVE

Once weekly, virtual small group tutoring sessions with Kumu Maile. It is the best way to get well-organized, highly targeted, and customized practice with a kumu and other students. This class utilizes Papa Makua I to guide the lesson sequence.
