Kalani began her executive career at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan, moving up from management trainee to Revenue Analyst. Despite early career success in the Big Apple, her heart’s pull to return to the islands could not be ignored. She was quickly hired as General Manager for Hoʻaloha Nā 'Ehā, Ltd., owners of the award-winning Old Lāhaina Lūʻau and affiliated food and entertainment subsidiaries. During her tenure,Hawaiʻi Business magazine named it one of “The Best Places to Work in Hawaiʻi.”

One of Hawaiʻi’s few publicly traded companies, Maui Land & Pineapple Co., Inc. (NYSE: MLP) recruited her to help manage the company’s considerable land assets including thousands of acres of arable agricultural land, conservation lands, and commercial space. She was instrumental in guiding the company during its transition to a land assets management company.

Wanting more personal time after marriage and the birth of two children, Kalani founded Nikaido Realty Group, LLC, a Maui realty management company for select retail and industrial properties. Later she served as CFO for Hoaʻāina Farm Services, LLC. When the medical cannabis industry came to Hawaiʻi, Maui Wellness Group, the top-scoring applicant in the state’s merit-based selection process, recruited her to serve as Director of Finance & Administration.
